The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley girls scored 88 points last Tuesday to take team championship honors at the talent-laden 2012 Heartland Varsity Track Meet. The Eagles scored four points more than Class C Sandy Creek and eight points more than Class C Hastings St. Cecilia. The Eagles were paced by a three gold-medal performance from Shelby Garland, who won the long jump (15-feet, 10.5-inches) and both the 100-meter (12.7 seconds) and the 200-meter (26.7) dashes. Teammate Cynthia Mick also had an impressive day in Henderson, as the fellow senior won the pole vault (9-0) and the 100-meter hurdles (16.5). Mick was also runner-up in the 300-meter hurdles (49.6, a season's best). Also scoring points for the Eagles on April 10 were: Jennifer Mick, fourth, pole vault; Jill Schroeder, fourth, long jump; J. Mick, fourth, 100-meter hurdles; Kristin Troyer, sixth, triple jump; Taylor Houck, sixth, 100-meter hurdles; Kalli Schroeder, fourth, 1,600-meter run, (new PR); 3,200-meter relay, sixth; 400-meter relay, second; and 1,600-meter relay, sixth. |
