Exeter-Milligan's Trystan Brandt and Trevor Luzum both turned in silver-medal performances in Omaha this past weekend. Brandt soared 42-feet, 8.25-inches to land in second place in the boys Class D triple jump at the 2016 NSAA State Track & Field Championships. Fellow Timberwolf junior Luzum cleared a personal best 6-1 to tie for second place in the high jump.
Brandt also racked up a third-place finish in the long jump, 20-4.50, while Luzum added a fifth-place finish in the 300-meter hurdles (42.50 seconds) to his medal count. Combined, the pair put up 25 points on the board in Omaha, which landed E-M in ninth place in the team standings.
Competing in two more events at State, Luzum failed to make finals in the triple jump with a best of 39-11.25 and was one spot away from making the finals in the 110-meter hurdles (16.63 seconds). Brandt teamed up with seniors Sam Zeleny and Jack Dinneen and sophomore Eric Olsen to place 11th in the 1,600-meter relay in 3:38.54.
Timberwolf Kate Jansky was the lone E-M girl participating at State. The Timberwolf freshman completed the 3,200-meter course in 12:35.05 for 12th place.
