The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles track team took eight events to the State track meet in Omaha on Friday and Saturday and of those eight events, seven of them placed and the eighth one broke the school record and just missed placing by ending up in ninth.
The boys had three events participating and started off with the 3,200-meter relay team running to a New School Record time of 8:52.67 and taking ninth place. Members of the relay were Kale Smith, Brett Holtzen, Karson Dickson and Kameron Dickson. Hunter Krehnke qualified for the finals by taking second in his preliminary heat of the 110 hurdles on Friday, and on Saturday took fourth place with a time of 15.83. Thomas Mick completed the boys scoring by jumping 13-10 and taking third place in the pole vault on Saturday afternoon. The boys scored 11 points and ended the meet in 23rd place.
The ladies started off with a one-two finish in the pole vault as Catherine Mick and Tristen Mosier closed out their Eagle careers on a high note with Catherine finishing first with a leap of 11-11 and Tristen close behind in second with a leap of 10-10. Catherine qualified in three races with preliminary victories on Friday, and then started off with a close victory in the 100-meter hurdles on Saturday winning by 1/100th of a second in 14.91. She took a turn on the other side of a close finish when she took second place in the 100-meter dash, losing out by 5/1,000th of a second and settling for a silver medal. She came back hard in the 300-meter hurdles and broke the State Meet Record and State overall record winning in a time of 44.92 seconds. Catherine's pole vault was good enough to win the All-class gold medal for a second year in a row. The girls scored 46 points and ended up in third place overall.
