E-M Girls, Boys Team Runners-up At Meridian Invite

Four Gold Medal Day...

The Exeter-Milligan boys and girls both finished in second place in the team standings at the 2017 Meridian Invite in Friend. The Timberwolf boys accumulated 105 points on April 5 to finish seven points behind meet winner Sterling.  The E-M girls tied with Diller-Odell with 66 points—78 points behind invite run-away winner Giltner (144).
The dynamic duo of Trevor Luzum and Trystan Brandt continue to excel for the Timberwolves. Brandt zipped to gold in 400-meter dash in 53.84 seconds. Brandt also won the 300-meter hurdles in 41.90. The E-M senior notched gold medals three and four by winning the long jump in Friend with a leap of 20-feet, 4.5-inches and the triple jump with an effort of 41-10.50.  Luzum followed his teammate home in the 300-meter hurdles in 42.70 seconds and the triple jump with a leap of 40-5.50.  Luzum also took runner-up honors in the high jump (5-10) and the 100-meter hurdles in 15.64 seconds. E-M's Mitchell Manning won the 3,200-meter run in Friend in a clocking of 11:40.80.
Additional scoring for the Timberwolf boys were turned in by Eric Olsen, sixth in 100-meter dash, 11.46; Manning, fourth in 800-meter run, 2:12.82; Manning, third in 1,600-meter run, 5:12.50; Patrick Murphy, sixth in 110-meter hurdles, 19.16; 1,600-meter relay squad of Spencer Pribyl, Manning, Murphy and Olsen, fifth, 3:57.34; 3,200-meter relay team of Caleb Horne, Peytan Brandt, Ryan Sharp and Joey Bartu, sixth, 10:47.80; Murphy, third in high jump, 5-6: and Olsen, fifth in the high jump, 5-4.
Amassing the 66 points for the E-M girls in Friend were: Katherine White, fourth in the 400-meter dash, 68.80 seconds; Kate Jansky, third in the 800-meter run, 2:38.20; Jansky, second in the 1,600-meter run, 6:02.99; Jansky, third in the 3,200-meter run, 12:53.10; White, first in the 100-meter hurdles, 16.40 seconds; White, second in the 300-meter hurdles, 50.50 seconds; 1,600-meter relay team of Hailey Luzum, Anna Sluka, Hannah Beethe and White, second, 4:42.40; 3,200-meter relay squad of Jansky, Sydney Hall, Caitlin Murphy and Hannah Horne, sixth, 12:22.50; Luzum, third in long jump, 14-6.75; Tara Mueller, third in the shot put, 33-8; and Mueller, sixth in the discus, 88-1.
