Timberwolf Boys Win E-M Invite

The Exeter-Milligan boys were the team champions at their own invite last Tuesday, while the Timberwolf girls landed in fourth place at the seven-team meet. The E-M boys won six events on April 18 and amassed 129 points—37 better than second-place McCool Junction. The Timberwolf girls were unable to get an event win but still managed 74 team points. The E-M Invite was again held in McCool Junction at the Paul Underwood track facility.
Three-sport standout Trevor Luzum captured three gold medals last Tuesday and finished third in his fourth event.  Luzum won the 110-meter high hurdles in 15.6 seconds and the 300-meter hurdles in 41.15 seconds. The E-M senior also cleared 6-feet, 1-inch to win the high jump and placed third in the long jump (19-9.5).  Teammate Trystan Brandt won the triple jump with a gold-medal effort of 42-8.  Brandt was also runner-up in the long jump (21-2.25) and the 300-meter hurdles (42.38).  Timberwolf Mitchell Manning took gold in the 3,200-meter run in 11:42.66. The E-M boys 3,200-meter relay squad of Patrick Murphy, Caleb Horne, Joey Bartu and Spencer Pribyl were first on April 18 in 9:37.30.
More medals won by the Timberwolf boys included:  Eric Olsen, third in 100-meter dash, 11.92; Peytan Brandt, third in 110-meter hurdles, 18.10; Murphy, fourth in 110-meter hurdles, 18.75; Manning, third in 1,600-meter run, 4:55.20; Murphy, fifth in 300-meter hurdles, 47.64; E-M 400-meter relay team of Horne, Bartu, Manning and Olsen, fourth, 48.83; Jos Cremers, fourth in the shot put, 40-2; Bartu, sixth in the shot put, 36-9; Murphy, third in the high jump, 5-7; Olsen, fifth in the high jump, 5-7; T. Brandt, fifth in the 400-meter dash, 56.15; Olsen, fifth in the 200-meter dash, 24.70; and the E-M 1,600-meter relay team of Horne, Bartu, P. Brandt and Pribyl, fifth, 4:25.14.
Katherine White (second, 100-meter hurdles, 16.45; and second, long jump, 15-3.75), Kate Jansky (second, 3,200-meter run, 12:57.15), and Tara Mueller (second, discus, 97-10) all earned runner-up medals at the E-M Invite.

Horne, sixth in 800-meter run, 2:52.48; 1,600-meter relay team of Hailey Luzum, Beethe, H. Horne and White, third, 4:33.46; and 400-meter relay squad of Giada Minussi, Haylee Sheffield, H. Horne and Josie Kresak, fifth, 57.90.
