Farmers’ Market Coupons

The Fillmore County Senior Services agency will be offering Farmers’ Market Coupons for the 2017 season. This program allows for aging adults who are at least 60 years of age and who meet income guidelines to be eligible for $48 worth of coupons to be used in exchange for fresh fruits, vegetables, honey and fresh cut herbs at Farmers’ Markets and roadside stands.
Each participant deemed eligible will receive coupons in the month of June and coupons can be used through October 31. Each year, participants must re-apply and coupons are never a guarantee. The Seniors Farmers’ Market program is able to pump money back into local economies here in Nebraska while at the same time supplying vital nutrients through fresh fruits and vegetables to Nebraska’s aging population.
Requirements for the Senior Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program are as follows:
• Participants must be 60 years of age or older.

• An income at or below 185 percent of the poverty guidelines (gross income does not exceed $22,311 for a one person household or $30,044 for a two person household).

• Only one set of coupons will be issued per household.

• Participants must apply for coupons within the county they reside.

Any interested individuals may contact Brenda Motis with Fillmore County Senior Services at 402-759-4922 to see if they are eligible or for more information regarding the program. Coupons are limited and will be issued on a first come, first serve basis to eligible participants.
