Jacobson SNC Champ; Monteforte, Schelkopf, Nichols Medal

The Fillmore Central girls landed in third place at the 2017 Southern Nebraska Conference Cross Country Championships and the Panther boys finished in fourth.  Fairbury was the girls team champions and Thayer Central was the boys champs.
Panther Grace Jacobson continued her dominance this season in winning her fourth straight race and the SNC crown.  The FC senior covered the sloppy course around Doane College in 20 minutes, 34.41 seconds—46 seconds ahead of her next competitor.  Lauryn Monteforte clipped the tape in 23:43.46 to place 14th.  Katie Sanchez placed 33rd and Kenna Asche took 38th.  Abby Parten landed in 39th place.  Milford was second in the girls' team standings.
Chandler Schelkopf paced the FC boys with a seventh-place finish in Crete in 19:26.76.  Garrett Nichols was next at 19:31.91 for a eighth-place finish for the Panther freshman.  Ryan Poppert took 35th in Crete and Riley Hiatt was 37th.  Lance Ayre finished in 39th position.  Milford was second in the boys' team standings, while Fairbury was third.
District action is this Thursday in McCool Junction at Camp Kateri.  The girls D-3 race begins at 4 p.m.  The boys race is slated to start at 4:45 p.m.
