Murphy Recognized For Excellence

Caitlin Murphy, a sophomore at Exeter-Milligan, recently earned the privilege of being recognized at the 2017 CTSO (Career and Technology Student Organization) Commissioner’s Recognition for Excellence. The event was held in the Rotunda of the Nebraska State Capitol with a reception following at the Governor’s Mansion.
The event recognized students who earned first, second and third place during their 2017 National Conference. Caitlin placed first in her FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) event of Life Event Planning, Jr. Category. Her project was titled “Everything for Europe."
Life Event Planning recognizes participants who apply skills learned in Family and Consumer Sciences courses to manage the financial costs of an upcoming event. Caitlin chose her trip with the Nebraska Ambassador’s of Music European Trip. The project portfolio consisted of a detailed plan of the event, her needs and wants for the trip, comparison-shopping examples, a detailed budget of purchases for the trip and evaluation of those purchases.
Caitlin’s was among the top 10 percent in the Nation for 2017 FCCLA STAR.
Caitlin is shown with Deputy Commissioner of School Improvement from the Department of Education Dr. Deborah Frison and Nebraska Lt. Governor Mike Foley.
