Timberwolf Girls Improve To 17-5

The Exeter-Milligan girls improved to 17-5, No. 3 in wildcard points in Class D-2, with a pair of victories last week.
The Timberwolves downed CRC-rival Giltner 52-45 on Thursday on the road.  E-M led the contest 26-22 at the break and went on to own the third quarter, 12-6.  The Timberwolves shot 32 percent (17-for-53) from the floor and 60 percent (14-for-23) from the charity stripe.  They also outrebounded the Hornets, 41-34.
Kate Jansky paced the E-M offense with 15 points.  The junior guard also had eight rebounds and three assists.  Tara Mueller snagged 14 rebounds and muscled in 13 points.  Anna Sluka tossed in 10 points.  Hannah Beethe grabbed seven rebounds and scored six.  Kelsey Bigelow added five points and Katherine White had three.
On Friday, the Timberwolves raced past Hampton 61-26.  E-M led the road contest 32-18 at intermission and then allowed the Hawks only eight second-half points.  The Timberwolves shot 45 percent (24-for-53) from the floor and 72 percent (8-for-11) from the free-throw line.  E-M canned five 3-pointers in the victory.
Jansky led all scorers with 17 points (2-for-3 from beyond the 3-point arc) and five rebounds.  Sluka scored 11 points and Mueller had 10 points and seven rebounds.  White netted nine points and Beethe had five.  Bigelow and Jaiden Papik both scored four points.  Cammie Harrison made a free throw.
The Timberwolves play McCool Junction and Cross County this week before beginning D2-2 Sub-district play on Feb. 12-15 at Malcolm.  E-M will be the top seed with Mead being the second seed. Dorchester, Osceola and Parkview Christian are also in the sub.
