Geneva Days July 3-4

Get ready for an action and fun-packed two days in Geneva on Tuesday, July 3, and Wednesday, July 4.  Activities on July 3 include an evening meal, fund-raiser auction, live music performance and home run derby.  There will be free swimming both days at the Geneva Family Aquatic Center and the Geneva Legion Post No. 68 Sons of the American Legion will be operating a beer garden both days.
The Geneva Days Celebration will be centered at the Geneva City Parkā€”just east of the Geneva Log Cabin and swimming pool.  The Geneva Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Chair-ity Auction features 25 one-of-a-kind decorated chairs donated and designed by local businesses.  The auction begins at 7 p.m., on Tuesday.
One change from Tuesday to Wednesday is the free showing of "The Dirty Dozen" at the Rialto II Theatre.  The movie will show at 2 p.m., on July 4.  Early mailers and notices were incorrect.  Wednesday's activities begin with a pancake feed, BBQ Cook-off, Relay for Life 5K color run, kick ball tournament and quilt show.
A July 4th Parade will begin at 10 a.m., on Wednesday.  The parade route has been modified for 2018 with the staging area taking place  around the Fillmore Central Elementary School and proceeding west along J Street.  The parade's new route south will be along 13th Street (old Highway 81).  The parade will turn west on G Street as it always has.  Refer to the Chamber's color advertisement on page 12A to view the new parade route.
Wednesday's activities continue with a car show, poker run, meals, golf tournament, Adam White Magic Show (2 p.m.), Quilt of Valor presentation and DJ music.  Please see the ad on page 12A for more information on these events.
The Geneva Fire and Rescue Fireworks display begins at dusk on Wednesday and will be featured at a new location. Fireworks will be lit off on the south side of the city ball complex (Legion Field).  The ball field parking lots will be open for public parking.  Patrons are reminded that there will be no parking available around the city park and main softball field, as fencing will be in place for the Geneva Days Celebration.
