Red Ribbon Week Festivities at E-M

Exeter-Milligan Public Schools recently participated in the National Red Ribbon Week held October 22-26.
Elementary students cut out red ribbons to hang on their lockers and participated in break out sessions daily put on by the local FCCLA junior and high school students. Kindergarten through second grade students learned about the dangers of drugs and alcohol and how to make better, healthier choices for their lives.
The third through sixth grade students spent time learning about what certain drugs and alcohol can do to different parts of your body and made their own rap about being drug free.
The junior and high school students got the opportunity to listen to Ryan Kaufmann, a veteran who struggled through many life tragedies, including being a drug and alcohol addict, as well as homeless many times. It was a very eye-opening presentation.
All students also enjoyed dressing up daily. Monday was “I pledge to be drug free”- wear red. Tuesday was “Don’t let drugs turn you inside out” - wear your clothes inside out. Wednesday was “Sock it to drugs” - wear crazy socks. Thursday was “Team up against drugs” - wear your favorite school team attire. This worked out perfectly since Thursday was also the first round of state football play-offs for the Exeter-Milligan-Friend football team. Go Bobcats!
