C-1 Panthers Open 0-2

The Panther boys opened up their 2018-2019 season with a loss at Milford and a home overtime loss against Fairbury.
Fillmore Central led the Jeffs 26-24 at the half on Saturday afternoon.  The Jeffs used a 13-5 run to begin the third period to help lead the contest 40-34 after three stanzas.  The Panthers tied the game at 43-all with four minutes left on December 1.  Fairbury would bury a trey to lead by three before free throws from Koby Head and Connor Asche had FC up 50-48.  Another Head free throw had the Panthers up 51-48 before the Jeffs buried another trey with eight seconds left.
Fairbury would then score the first nine points of the overtime session en route to a 63-56 road win.
Carson Tatro led all scorers with 19 points.  Head added nine points and Garrett Nichols swished in eight.  Both Asche and Brock Tatro had six points.  Carson Scott added five points and Parker Uldrich had three.  Also seeing action for the Panthers were Demetrio Maciel, Izayah Morris and Hunter Verhage.
The Panthers were hammered by Milford to start the season on the road, 61-14.  Only four FC players hit the scorers book in Milford, with C. Scott leading the way with six points.
FC hosts St. Paul this Friday night before travelling to David City on Saturday.
Joining the Panthers in the C1-2 Sub-district on February 18-21 are Fairbury, Malcolm, Milford and Raymond Central.
Head coach Jordan High (23-24) begins his third season at FC.  The Panthers were 7-15 a year ago in Class C-2. Top opponents include Adams Central and Sutton.
