2 cases bound over to district court

By Signal Staff

Two men have had felony charges made against them bound over to the Fillmore County District Court.
Michael L. Stover, 61, formerly of York and now of Milligan, is charged with Possession of a deadly weapon by a felon and Possession of a deadly weapon while committing a felony, both Class 3 felonies.  Stover is also charged with Possession of a controlled substance, a Class 4 felony.  Four misdemeanor charges were dismissed.
Fillmore County Court Judge Michael P. Burns found probable cause to bind the felony counts over to district court.  Stover is slated for arraignment in the Fillmore County District Court on Friday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m.
According to court records, Geneva Super Foods employees telephoned the Fillmore County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) on October 24 about a man sitting in a parked car for several hours by the Geneva grocery store. FCSO deputies responded to the location at 10:47 a.m., and encountered Stover sitting in a parked vehicle without license plates outside the store.  Court records indicate Stover allegedly told the deputies he was parked, sleeping it off.  After obtaining the defendant's information, FCSO deputies learned Stover had a suspended license and a lengthy criminal history of multiple previous felonies.
When contacted further, Stover ran from the deputies and physically confronted one deputy. Two baggies were allegedly found on the defendant during his arrest.  These baggies allegedly contained .286 grams of methamphetamine.  Allegedly found in Stover's vehicle were syringes, two meth pipes, meth residue, more methamphetamine, knives and miscellaneous drug paraphernalia. During the booking process later, Stover was found to have two failure to appear charges open for drug and deadly weapon charges in Seward and Hall counties.  Stover is also out on bond for a Possession of a controlled substance charge in Lancaster County.
Also having a felony charge bound over to district court was Brian L. Wilson, 46, of Geneva.  Wilson is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday, December 14, at 9:30 a.m., in the Fillmore County District Court on the Class 4 felony charge of Possession of a controlled substance.

Court records indicate that FCSO deputies accompanied a Fillmore County Probation officer on a probation search at Wilson's residence in Geneva on October 25, at 5:50 p.m.  While there, deputies allegedly found a plastic box with marijuana in it; a bong and a pipe with methamphetamine.  Court documents indicate that some of the substances allegedly tested positive for marijuana.
