FC Girls Remain Hot

Fillmore Central continued to be one of the hottest teams in Class C-2 with a pair of wins last week.  The 11-3 Panthers (No. 2 in wildcard points and the winners of five straight) downed Class C-1, 9-5 Malcolm last Tuesday, 42-26, and bested Heartland 58-44 on Thursday.  Both were road games.
Following their big win over Superior, FC put the clamps on Malcolm on January 8, holding the Clippers to just 10 first-half points.  The Panthers were up 23-10 at intermission and maintained their advantage throughout.
Jackie Schelkopf scored a game-high 15 points for the winners.  Halle Theis added nine points and Lexi Theis pumped in seven points.
The Panthers exploded for 22 first-quarter points on Thursday in Henderson to race out to a 31-17 halftime lead over the Huskies.  FC maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half.
Erin Schmidt led all scorers on January 10 with 20 points.  Schelkopf poured in 16 points and H. Theis had nine.  L. Theis added seven points and both Macy Scott and Abby Nichols had three points.
FC hosts Tri County this Thursday at home before going on the road for two more tough contests—on Saturday against 8-5, Class C-1 Lincoln Christian and on Tuesday at 11-3 Centennial.
