BDS 15-3 On Year

Heading into play on Saturday in a salty triangular that includes Friend and Heartland, Bruning-Davenport/Shickley lost to the home team and defeated pesky Blue Hill in a triangular at Giltner on Thursday night. The 14-2 Eagles easily defeated Deshler last Tuesday in a Parents’ Night contest on September 25.

BDS fell to the 12-2 Hornets 25-14, 25-22 on September 27.

Makaleigh Yantzie smacked six kills for the Eagles in the road loss and Christy Swartzendruber added five. Jaycie Hoins tallied seven assists in the match and Matyson Kleinschmidt notched six. Swartzendruber belted two ace serves against Giltner.

Kleinschmidt paced the Eagle defense with 10 digs and Taylor Houck contributed two ace blocks. Yantzie tallied an ace block in the match.

Both Houck and Yantzie cracked 10 kills each in BDS’s 25-22, 24-26, 25-10 victory over Blue Hill. Swartzendruber added seven kills against the Bobcats.

Kleinschmidt dished out 16 assists in the hard-fought win and Hoins tallied 11. Cassidy Bentley also contributed 10 ace sets. Swartzendruber whacked three ace serves and Kalli Schroeder nailed two.

Swartzendruber paced the Eagle defense with 28 digs, while Kleinschmidt added 13 for the winners. Houck recorded five ace blocks.

On Tuesday, BDS cruised past once-beaten Deshler 25-13, 25-13, 25-15.

Yantzie crushed 15 kills in the home-court victory and both Jill Schroeder and Houck added six terminations. Kleinschmidt contributed 18 assists and Hoins added 10.

Houck belted three ace serves against the 8-2 Dragons and both Swartzendruber and Jennifer Mick smacked two.

Swartzendruber paced the Eagle defense with 22 digs and Kleinschmidt tallied 13. K. Schroeder came up with an even dozen digs in the win. Houck recorded two ace blocks in the triumph and J. Schroeder added one.

On Saturday, the Eagles traveled to Friend to compete in a triangular. BDS defeated the host 6-10 Bulldogs in two sets on September 29 and lost to Heartland in two sets. The Huskies are 11-5 on the year and will join the Eagles and Exeter-Milligan in the D1-2 Sub-district later this month at Thayer Central (Hebron).

BDS plays at Osceola this Tuesday (October 2) and in a triangular in McCool Junction next Tuesday with the Mustangs and Dorchester.
