BDS Eagles Blank Cross County 54-0

In the season-opener the Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles blanked the Cross County Cougars 54-0 in eight-man football action Friday, August 30 at Bruning in a win ignited by a 16-0 first-quarter.

The Eagles forced five Cross County turnovers to provide a big assist for the victory.

“We won’t really learn too much about ourselves until this week against Giltner,” said Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Coach Mark Rotter. “Hopefully we’ll redeem ourselves a little bit from last year.”

T.J. Krupicka returned three punts for 87 yards and one kick return for eight yards. “T J. is gaining confidence every week as a returner and is going to be a definite weapon on our return team,” said Coach Shipley.

The Eagles jumped ahead 16-0 after the first quarter, led 40-0 at halftime, and then held a lead of 48-0 after the third quarter.
“Freshman Kale Kleinschmidt showed his aggressiveness on offense and defense by scoring a rushing TD and returning a fumble for a TD,” said Coach Ardissono.
