Exeter-Milligan split a pair of games last week in area boys basketball action. The 16-5 Timberwolves fell to Giltner 47-37 on Thursday in a rematch of last weeks CRC Tournament final. The next night, E-M got past Hampton 58-43.
The home-court Hornets started fast on February 1 against E-M leading the contest 28-19 at intermission. The Timberwolves fought back with a 14-10 third-quarter effort. The Timberwolves shot a meager 24 percent (12-for-49) from the floor including a 1-for-11 effort from beyond the 3-point arc. Rebounds were even at 32-32.
Max Zeleny led E-M in scoring with 11 points. Zeleny also grabbed 16 rebounds and had three assists. Eric Olsen netted 10 points and Spencer Pribyl had eight. Patrick Murphy scored six points and Johnny Babula had a bucket.
On Friday, the Timberwolves used a 21-3 second-quarter to roll to a win at Hampton. E-M led the contest 33-18 at the break. The Timberwolves shot 41 percent (23-for-56) from the field and made six 3-pointers. They also owned the glass, 37-24.
Olsen led all scorers with 18 points. The senior guard also grabbed six rebounds and dished out seven assists. Murphy made four 3-pointers en route to 15 points. Seth Maxson scored 10 points for the winners and Zeleny added seven. Pribyl snagged 10 rebounds and scored six points. Babula added a bucket for E-M.
The Timberwolves are currently No. 4 in wildcard points in Class D-2.
