E-M Girls Win Sub-district

The Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves routed the McCool Jct. Mustangs 61-10 in girls basketball Tuesday, February 12 at Geneva in the first round of the D1-2 Sub district Tournament in a win ignited by a first-quarter blitz.

The Timberwolves forced 21 McCool Jct. turnovers to help the victory.

The Timberwolves led 19-0 after the opening period, led 37-2 after the second quarter, and then led 51-3 going into the final period.

Exeter-Milligan improved its season mark to 19-4.

Exeter-Milligan hit 3 of 10 three-point tries and sank 6 of 10 free throw tries. The Timberwolves made 26 of 78 from the field, while McCool Jct. was 1 of 32 from the field. McCool Jct. hit 0 of 7 three-pointers and sank 8 of 13 from the line.

Exeter-Milligan held a 42-14 edge on the boards.

The Exeter-Milligan Timberwolves defeated the Heartland Huskies 43-37 in an overtime battle in girls basketball Thursday, February 14 at Geneva in the championship game of the D1-2 Sub-district Tournament.

The score was tied 35-35 after regulation.

The Timberwolves jumped ahead 11-9 after the first quarter, led 20-16 at halftime, and then trailed 27-24 going into the fourth quarter.

Exeter-Milligan improved its season mark to 20-4.

Exeter-Milligan made 2 of 4 three-point attempts and sank 7 of 13 from the line. The Timberwolves made 17 of 44 field goal attempts, while Heartland was 12 of 40 from the field. Heartland sank 2 of 9 three-point tries and sank 11 of 15 free throw tries.

The 20-4 Timberwolves will play this Friday, February 22 at Seward at 7 p.m., against 19-3 Friend for the district championship.
