Eagles Fly Past Creighton, 42-14

The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles pulled away in the second half to overcome the Creighton Bulldogs 42-14 in second round action of the state football playoffs on Wednesday, Oct. 31 at Shickley in a game where the two teams rolled up 719 total yards.

“Our kids played hard the whole game,” said Bruning-Davenport/Shickley coach Chris Ardissono. “If you were on the field you were playing hard.”

The Eagles fell behind 8-6 after the first quarter, went into the locker room up 14-8 at halftime, and then held a lead of 28-8 after the third quarter.

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley improved its season mark to 9-1.

“Our seniors wanted this win,” said Eagle coach Scott Shipley. “They were determined to bring home the W.”

The next game for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will be against top-seeded, No. 1 Howells-Dodge in the Quarter finals of the NSAA D-1 State Football Play-offs, in Howells, on Tuesday, Nov. 6.
