The Bruning-Davenport/Shickley Eagles blanked the Pawnee City Indians 41-0 in D-1 State Play-off football action Wednesday, October 24, at Bruning in a game where the Eagles used a balanced offensive attack and a stingy defense to post the victory.
BDS freshman Sam Christensen started the game on offense and defense in the line. “Sam will give you 100 per cent and will play whistle to whistle at any position you put him in,” BDS co-head coach Chris Ardissono said.
The Eagles led 14-0 after the first quarter, led 20-0 at halftime, and then led 35-0 after the third period.
Bruning-Davenport/Shickley improved its season mark to 8-1.
“Sam Christensen led the team with 15 total tackles,” Eagle co-head coach Mark Rotter said. “Wyatt Schoenholz ended a Pawnee City second quarter 10 play 37 yard drive with an interception.”
The next game for Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will be against Creighton on Wednesday, October 31, in Shickley at 5 p.m. The 8-1 Bulldogs lone loss this season was a 32-22 setback against undefeated Elgin Public/Pope John. Creighton played a soft regular-season schedule this year, as the Bulldogs’ seven regular-season victories came against teams with a combined record of 21-35.
“We’ve waited for a whole year to see our friends from Creighton again,” Rotter commented.
