Fairmont celebrates this Friday-Sunday

Fairmont celebrates its Old Setts Picnic this weekend.
Friday’s events include a Fairview Manor fund-raiser at the Fairmont American Legion Club; high school student scavenger hunt and music at the Legion.  There will be free swimming all weekend at the Fairmont Village Swimming pool.
Saturday kicks-off with a Fun Run/Walk at 8 a.m.  Other morning events include breakfast at the Legion; Veteran Memorial walking tour; lunch stand; vintage market and free Show & Shine.  Going on in Fairmont Saturday afternoon are a Soda Shoppe at the Fillmore County Historical Museum; kids slime shop at the Legion; Veteran Memorial program; free fire truck rides; fire department water fights and pitch tournament.  The After Midnight band will play beginning at 9 p.m., on Saturday night.
A community church service starts things off on Sunday in Fairmont at 11 a.m.  A community meal happens next; followed by the Soda Shoppe being open, Frisbee golf, a kids movie, dunk tank and a horseshoe tournament at the Village Pool Park.
The Marv Roper Memorial Parade will begin winding through the village starting at 5 p.m.  The Fillmore Central Middle School will be the starting point.  After the parade’s conclusion, a community picnic will take place at the Pool Park, along with inflatables, swimming and polka music.  A community fireworks show is planned to begin at about 9:45 p.m., at the Ball Field.  Contact any Fairmont Community Club member for more information.
