Fillmore Central was defeated by the Aurora Huskies 56-43 in girls basketball Tuesday, January 21 at Geneva as the winners held the lead after each quarter.
“Fillmore Central had 29 turnovers which was a large factor in the game, limiting the number of shots we could take,” said Fillmore Central Coach Christin Lovegrove. “Our half court offense was effective, but it’s hard to win games with that many turnovers. The girls responded well after half-time, but were not able to overcome our slow start in the first half.”
The Panthers trailed 13-6 after the first quarter, trailed 25-15 after the second period, and then trailed 43-30 going into the final period.
The Fillmore Central season mark fell to 9-9.
Scoring- Krienert 9, Rasmussen 3, Schelkopf 4, Maloley 2, Poppert 2, Hoarty 21, Lundberg 2.
The Fillmore Central Panthers crushed the Tri County Trojans 64-20 in girls basketball Friday, January 24 at DeWitt as the winners took control early.
“Emilie Krienert had a fantastic game for us with 30 points, three assists and six steals,” said Fillmore Central Coach Christin Lovegrove. “Rachel Hoarty was the focus for Tri County and that opened up a lot of opportunities for the other girls. Rachel had 12 points, five rebounds, five assists and six steals. We were able to play a lot of girls off the bench and I was happy with their play. We took care of the ball no matter who was in the game and did a great job of running our system.”
The Panthers led 18-8 after the first quarter, led 36-16 at halftime, and then led 49-18 going into the final period.
Scoring- Smith 4, Krienert 30, O’Brien 2, Rasmussen 2, Shelkopf 6, Maloley 6, Hoarty 12, Lundberg 2.
