The Fillmore Central volleyball team began its 2010 campaign with a three-set drubbing of David City, 25-14, 25-12, 25-12, on Thursday, September 2.
Maggie Malone and Heather Broman led the Panther hit parade with nine kills apiece. Meg Loontjer thumped six terminations and Lindsey Maloley and Christa Scott both added three kills. Amaly Reinsch and Taylor Wilkins both notched a kill for FC.
Haley Norvell tallied 26 ace sets in the opening-season victory and Scott added five. Norvell also cranked out six ace serves and notched three digs. Broman smacked four ace serves, recorded three digs and recorded two ace blocks.
Scott pounded four ace serves in the win and so did Malone. Malone and Loontjer both paced the defense with four digs. Maloley was credited with two ace blocks.
After a match at Milford on Tuesday, the Panther spikers will be at home this Thursday, September 9, against Tri-County, who were beaten by Thayer Central to begin its season.
