The Saline County Wind Association announces an afternoon program with Governor Dave Heineman on Tuesday, June 1, at Saline Center Hall, 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Saline Center Hall is located at County Road M and Highway 15 which is 11 miles west of Wilber on Highway 41 and 3 miles north on Highway 15 or 3 miles west of Dorchester and 9 miles south on Highway 15.
Saline County Wind Association members and the general public are invited to learn about Governor Dave Heineman’s view of the latest efforts on wind energy legislation and the latest wind energy developments in Saline County.
Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD) has announced developers have until June 4, to propose projects that can be developed on an NPPD site in Madison County or on a developer’s site that has adequate transmission in Nebraska. Projects may range from 50 to 300 megawatts in size and are encouraged to meet community-based energy development (C-BED) criteria.
UNL Extension Educator Randy Pryor said he has observed strong landowner and community support for a wind energy project in the dryland farming area of the county near the Saline Center area.
