Milford was the boys team champions at the 2012 Fillmore Central Cross Country Invite on Thursday and the Malcolm girls landed in the top spot on September 13.
Brook Swantek of McCool Junction covered the 2.5-mile course around the Hidden Hills Country Club in rural Geneva in 15 minutes, 11.52 seconds to win the girls’ race. The Clippers landed in third, fifth and seventh position in the individual-race placings.
Kellan Willet of Malcolm was a clear-cut winner in the boys’ race covering the 3.1-mile course in 16:09.11—more than 10 seconds quicker than his next opponent. Eagle harriers came home in the second, fourth, fifth and seventh positions.
Panther Rachel Hoarty was the lone medalist for the FC thinclads. Hoarty travelled the course in 16:16.4 to earn a 13th-place medal. Teammate Rachel Workentine landed in 40th position (17:51), while Megan Schiermeyer was 72nd and Ruth Kendell took 80th. Melissa Rosenquist finished in 82nd position.
Tyler Loontjer paced the Panther boys on September 13 covering the course in 19:31 for 54th. Teammate Juan Rodriquez landed in 60th position (19:54) and Noah Temme was 67th (20:27). Cole Jividen was 82nd at the meet with a time of 21:42. Heath Bowman was 86th (23:17) and Jacob Galusha was 88th (23:29).
“We were lucky to have beautiful weather,” Panther coach Brandie Conway said. “Juan showed a two minute improvement today. Our freshmen continue to show overall improvement every race. I’m looking forward to next week’s race in Hebron.”
The Panthers compete in the Thayer Central Invite on Thursday, September 20. The first race begins at 5 p.m. in Hebron.
