Panthers 2-3 At A-G Tournament

Fillmore Central finished 2-3 in pool play at the 2013 Ashland-Greenwood Volleyball Invite on Thursday and Saturday.  The Panthers are now 14-7 on the season.
FC opened action in Ashland with a three-set loss to 9-12, Class B Omaha Gross Catholic on Thursday, October 3. The Cougars prevailed in the thriller 25-12, 20-25, 25-23.

Emilie Krienert thumped eight kills for the Panthers and Tracey Maloley added seven terminations.  Both Brooke Rasmussen and Abbie Parde nailed three kills.  Megan Poppert posted 20 ace sets for FC.

Maloley cracked three ace serves against Gross and both Krienert and Rasmussen smacked one.  Maloley tabbed four blocks and Rasmussen added three.  Ashton O’Brien and Parde both tallied two blocks in the match.

Parde paced the Panther defense with nine digs and Krienert, Maloley and O’Brien all tallied seven digs.  Rasmussen and Poppert both recorded four digs.
In the second match on Thursday, FC crunched 2-18, Class B Plattsmouth 25-10, 25-21.

Maloley ripped seven kills in the victory and Krienert added five terminations.  Rasmussen added four kills and O’Brien notched three.  Poppert recorded 17 assists.
Krienert cracked two ace serves and both Rasmussen and O’Brien had one.  Rasmussen tallied an ace block in the two-set victory.

Krienert, Parde and Maloley all had six digs against the Blue Devils.  O’Brien tallied four digs and Poppert added two more.

On Saturday, the Panthers rolled past 9-6, Class C-1 Lincoln Lutheran 25-18, 25-15.

Krienert pounded eight kills down in the victory on October 5.  Both Rasmussen and Parde produced four kills and Maloley and O’Brien both notched two terminations.

Poppert tallied 18 ace sets in the win.  Rasmussen drilled three ace serves for FC and Maloley smacked two.  O’Brien also nailed an ace serve.
Rasmussen tallied four blocks against Lincoln Lutheran and Maloley and O’Brien both had two.  Parde also added a block and paced the defense with nine digs.  Maloley recorded seven digs in the victory and Krienert added five digs for the Panthers.

Next, FC fell to Class C-1 powerhouse Wahoo in straight sets.  The 21-2 Warriors prevailed 25-12, 25-18.

Maloley slapped down five kills in the loss and Krienert added four.  Both Rasmussen and O’Brien added two terminations.  Poppert tallied 13 ace sets and snapped down two ace serves.  Maloley also ripped an ace serve.

Maloley also contributed two ace blocks in the defeat and Parde added one.  Parde also paced the Panther defense with six digs.  Krienert and O’Brien both notched five digs and Maloley added four.

In the final game in the tournament, FC fell to the hosts 26-24, 25-20 in an extremely hard-fought loss.  The Class C-1 Bluejays improved to 8-9 on the season with the win.

Maloley clobbered six kills in the loss and Krienert added five terminations.  Parde tallied three kills and Rasmussen added a pair of terminations.  Poppert contributed 15 ace sets in the match and Rasmussen added two assists.

Rasmussen, Maloley and O’Brien all nailed ace serves.  O’Brien also recorded two blocks and Krienert added one. Parde paced the FC defense with eight digs and Krienert tallied seven digs.  O’Brien recorded five digs in the loss and Maloley had four.
