Timberwolf Boys 1-1 At CRC

Exeter-Milligan began play in the 2017 Crossroads Conference Basketball Tournament on Saturday with a 48-34 win over High Plains.
On Tuesday, the No. 5-seeded Timberwolves fell to No. 4-seed Cross County 34-31 in a very low-scoring game.  E-M (6-9) pulled to within a basket, 29-27, at the end of the third period and had numerous chances to pull even or pull ahead of the 15-3, Class C-2 Cougars on January 24.
An errant pass to the baseline cost E-M a bunny that would’ve sent the game into overtime at the York City Auditorium.
Cameron White paced the Timberwolf offense with 10 points.  The senior forward also snagged nine rebounds and blocked three shots.  Fellow senior Trevor Luzum laced in six points, grabbed eight rebounds and dished out three assists in the loss.
Patrick Murphy swished in six points and dished out four assists.  Caleb Horne canned a 3-pointer and scored five points. Eric Olsen and Spencer Pribyl both scored a basket for E-M.
The Timberwolves shot 36 percent (13-for-36) from the floor.  Real shooting problems came from beyond the 3-point arc (1-for-10, 10 percent) and at the free-throw line 4-for-13 (30 percent).
E-M will have a busy stretch this week with games against CRC opponents High Plains (away) and home against Giltner and Hampton.
