York Czechs Choose Queen

The Nebraska Czechs of York crowned Miss Claire Brejcha of Friend as the 2014 York Czech-Slovak  Queen on March 20, 2011 in York.

Randi Tomasek of Polk was the first runner up.  The coronation included 2013 York Czech- Slovak Queen Jessie Poskochil and the former York Czech-Slovak Queen Shandra Korbelik.

Queen Coordinator Bernice Mettenbrink conducted the interviews for the two girls that auditioned for this title.  Bob Brazda welcomed the attendees with music on his button accordion.  Jean Lamp, Lorelei Edwards, Pat Carpenter and President JoAnn Kuester were the hostesses for the evening serving chlebicky (small, garnished sandwiches), kolac and heart shaped cookies.

Scholarship Committee

The York Czech Club scholarship committee has been receiving applications for the annual $300 scholarship.  An entry will be made for the annual peep show on April 12.

Co-Chairs Lola Schall and Pam Hromadka are working on plans for tenth Annual Czechfest on October 19 at the new Holthus Convention Center.  The next regular meeting will be April 24.
