Rung Champion of History

The Nebraska State Historical Society Foundation held its annual reception and awards ceremony on Wednesday, February 19, from 6-8 p.m. at the Nebraska History Museum in Lincoln. It also celebrated the 106th legislature second session.
During the ceremony, Doug Rung, current president of the Fillmore County Historical Society and retired history educator, recieved Hisory Nebraska’s Champion of History Award. It is given annually to recognize outstanding contributions made by an individual or organization who helped to preserve or interpret Nebraska History.
Attending the reception with Doug were his wife, Billie; brother, Bob, and his wife, Judy–both teachers in Lincoln; and Fillmore County Historical Society members, Lonee Hendrickson and Agnes Anderson.
Nebraska State Legislature 32nd District representative State Senator Tom Brandt presented the award to Doug. Over 200 invited dignitaries attended the reception and awards ceremony including Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts.
