Nichols, Barbur Medal In Geneva

The Panthers had two medal winners at the 2019 Fillmore Central Cross Country Invite. Garrett Nichols took fifth in the boys race after covering the new course at the Hidden Hills Country Club in 18 minutes, 4.18 seconds. William Anderson of Gothenburg took top honors in the boys race in 17:25.72. Three Malcolm runners followed him home.
FC’s Teneal Barbur placed 17th in the girls race with a clocking of 23:14.86 in unseasonably hot weather conditions on Thursday, September 19.
“Garrett and Teneal once again earn medal spots, Garrett earning fifth place and Teneal 17th with a season best time and course improvement,” Panther coach Brandie Conway said. “Conner Nun also had a season best and course best with 19.14. Isaiah Lauby placed fifth in the junior varsity race with another season best and course improvement.”
Nun landed in 23rd place on Thursday afternoon. Panther Alex Schademann placed 34th on September 19 and Maverick Rhoten was 50th. Travis Meyer took 52nd and Jayden Wolfe was 55th. Aiyana Rhoten placed 57th in the girls race in Geneva.
“The key to the rest of the season is for the varsity (boys) to run under 20 minutes each race,” Conway said. “That’s what we are going to need come districts. This week, we are in Hebron with another great group of competitors.”
