BDS VB Starts Season 6-0

Bruning-Davenport/Shickley picked up a pair of wins in a triangular at home and one at Hampton last week.
The 6-0 Eagles began play last Tuesday with a 25-10, 25-14 win over Class C-2 Sutton. Regan Alfs smacked down nine kills in the win. Mariah Sliva belted two terminations. Taylor Sliva nailed three ace serves and Alfs had a pair. M. Silva also had an ace serve. Jordan Bolte tallied eight assists and Alfs and Macy Kamler added two each. Kamler paced the defense with nine digs.
“The girls came out fired up and ready to play Sutton knowing they were a very competitive C-2 school,” Eagle head coach Kari Jo Alfs said. “Our serving was very aggressive tonight and we were able to keep them out of system at various times.”
BDS followed this up with a 25-14, 25-10 victory over Sandy Creek. Kamler pounded seven kills against the Cougars and Alfs and M. Sliva both had five. Malory Dickson came up with a pair of ace blocks and Alfs posted nine assists. Bolte had eight assists and Kamler smacked three ace serves. Alfs had two ace serves.

“It was a great night—we suited up 12 players in the varsity gym and they all saw action in both matches,” Alfs said. “The BDS JV team also defeated Sutton and Sandy Creek.”
The Eagles swept Hampton and Exeter-Milligan on Thursday, September 5, in Hampton. BDS overpowered the host Hawks, 25-11, 25-15. Alfs crushed eight kills and Kamler had seven. Jen Holtzen, Bolte and M. Sliva all had two kills. T. Sliva ripped a pair of ace serves and Fiala, Alfs, M. Sliva, Kamler and Bolte all served up an ace. Bolte posted nine ace sets and Alfs had eight. Alfs came up with 10 digs and T. Sliva had six.
“Our defense did a fantastic job tonight getting the ball to our setter,” Alfs said. “It was also great to see each of our servers getting an ace serve.”
BDS also rolled past the Timberwolves, 25-9, 25-8, in Hampton. M. Sliva and Kamler both had five kills. Alfs nailed three terminations and Bolte had two. T. Sliva ripped five ace serves and M. Silva and Fiala both had a pair. Bolte had seven assists and Alfs had six. Madison Sokol added two assists. Kamler had six digs and T. Sliva had five.
“The Eagles were very impressive behind the serving line tonight with Fiala serving 11 straight points in the first set and Taylor Sliva scoring the first 13 points in the second set.”
