Signal wins 9 newspaper awards
The Nebraska Signal was selected to receive nine Top 3-awards at the 2020 Nebraska Press Association’s Better Newspaper Contest. The winners were announced on Thursday. The Illinois Press Association judged the more than 3,400 entrees in this year’s contest.
Signal advertising director Julie (Hayek) Sulzbach had a hand in all nine winners. Earning runner-up honors in this year’s contest were, “Here’s a Bright Idea!” in the Building Circulation category; a Single Classified black and white ad for Gary’s Brick-House Grille; and The Nebraska Signal’s Front Page.
Sulzbach earned six more third-place awards in the following categories: Building Circulation: Did You Know?; Agricultural Advertisement for Messman Fertilizer; Signature Page: Halloween Safety A to Z; The Nebraska Signal Classified Section; Single Retail Advertising Idea—Color: Geneva Home Center—Holiday Open House; and Single Classified Advertising Idea, black and white, for Generations Bank—loan officer.
The Nebraska Signal competes in the Class C division—the second largest in the weekly division. The Edgecombe Family Community Newspaper Digital Sweepstakes Awards were given for the second year. The Hartington Cedar County News was this year’s winner.
