Eagles Continue To Fly High; Lead HP 72-0 At Intermission

Homecoming was joyous in Shickley, as Bruning-Davenport/Shickley rolled High Plains 80-6 on Friday night. The 4-0 Eagles led the Storm 72-0 at halftime. Both teams scored once in the running-clock second half.
Homecoming shifts to Bruning-Davenport this Friday night, as the Eagles host Blue Hill in Bruning.
The Eagles scored early and often against High Plains in the rout.
“The machine is well oiled at this point,” BDS co-head coach Mark Rotter said. “There are times us coaches try to tell the younger guys something, and they say an older player already told them. We don’t have any Brett Favres refusing to help Aaron Rodgers types.”
Tyler Grote scored three touchdowns in the blow-out and added a PAT. Dominic Philippi scored twice and converted three PATs. Aaron Mick also visited the endzone two times. Jaron Norder added a TD and two PATs. Easton Weber also scored once and added a PAT. Seth Stengel scored once and added a PAT. Dalton Kleinschmidt and Jay Kempf also scored PATs.
Grote carried the ball seven times for 103 yards. He also hit paydirt after a 59-yard punt return.
“Tyler has quickness and speed with the ball in his hands,” co-head coach Chris Ardissono said.
The Eagle JV and third teams played the entire second half and a good portion of the second quarter.
“Adam Alfs and Tanner Bolte were forces on the offensive and defensive lines,” BDS assistant coach Scott Shipley said.
“The varsity and junior varsity converted every extra point attempt tonight,” Ardissono said.
BDS had 410 yards rushing in the win. Philippi rushed for 78 yards and Norder had 71. Weber rushed for 67 yards and Stengel hauled the ball for 56 yards.
Norder logged 20 tackles and Tanner Bolte had 18. Trevor Whitesell and Alfs both had 11 stops. Kyle Ardissono was in on 10 tackles and Derek Domeier had seven tackles.
The Eagles improved to 4-0 and No. 1 in Class D-2.
