Fillmore Central Cross Country Competes

The Fillmore Central varsity boys cross country squad placed fourth in the team standings at last week’s Thayer Central Cross Country Invite in Hebron. Garrett Nichols placed fifth over the Hebron Country Club course in 17 minutes, 54 seconds. Conner Nun finished in 10th place on Thursday, September 24, in 18:18 (career best).
Austin Wurtz covered the course in 19:25 (career best) for 21st place. Hunter Verhage came in 24th (19:40). Eli Myers took 43rd (22:04). Rounding out the boys finishers were Travis Meyer (49), Cole Nedrow (55), Bryson Hafer (53), Zach Coash (59) and Alex Schademan (60).
Hallie Verhage earned her first medal of her varsity career with an 18th place finish in Hebron in 24:49. Teneal Barbur landed in 26th place in 26:35.
“Today, we got a good look at some competition that we will be up against in districts,” Panther head coach Brandie Conway said. “Next week, we’re in York for homecoming week.”
The annual York Cross Country invite is this Thursday, October 1, at the York Country Club.
