Fillmore Central Football vs. Sandy Creek

Friday September 1, 2017
Weather: 60-70 degrees with light winds out of south, light rain during the 4th qtr.
Fillmore Central earned its first victory on the gridiron Friday night by defeating the Sandy Creek Cougars 7-0.  Strong defensive stands put up by both teams lead to a scoreless first quarter. The ball ended up on the ground several times for both teams but each team buckled down on defense to keep the score 0-0 almost the entire first half. FC took advantage of great field position on their final drive of the first half to go 52 yards on 15 plays in which Kole Karcher finally punched in the only score of the game with a 1 yard QB sneak. Karcher’s extra point was also good. The second half consisted of multiple drives in which each team turned the ball over on downs, several punts, a missed field goal by FC. Fillmore Central took advantage of two key interceptions to hold SC scoreless.  Jake Stoner had 20 rushing attempts for 75 yards.  Karcher was 6 of 15 for 41 yards passing, hitting Tagert Osborne 3 times for 30 yards. Defensively the Panthers were paced by Karcher who had 7 total tackles, 2 pass break ups, and 2 interceptions. Gaven Turgeon had 8 tackles, followed by Koby Head, Parker Trowbridge, and Tanner Nun each tallying 7 a piece.
